Stephen Rollins

In 1998, Stephen Rollins was hired as the Dean of the Consortium Library at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Since 1999 Steve Rollins has served as the Chair of the Statewide Databases Coordinating Committee, which negotiates and licenses a variety of online resources and services for the state of Alaska. He is one of the founders of Alaska’s Digital Archives, the Alaska Library Network, UA’s institutional repository, and the Joint Library Catalog. The Joint Library Catalog system serves 75 public, university, school, and special libraries in Alaska. Stephen Rollins currently serves on the Board of Directors as the treasurer for the Alaska Library Network. He has extensive experience in negotiating statewide and multi-institutional licensing. He formerly served on the OCLC Users Council (AMIGOS representative), the BCR Board of Trustees, and for two years as president of the Board of Trustees for BCR. At the University of Alaska Anchorage, Steve Rollins directed a $43 million library construction and renovation project, launched a $2 million statewide digital library program and has managed more than $12 million in grant funding. Under his leadership, the Consortium Library has implemented a range of award winning library programs. Before moving to Alaska, Steve Rollins served as the Associate Dean of Library Services at the University of New Mexico and as the contract administer for library services for Western Governors University. Over the last 40 years, Stephen Rollins participated in more than six major library construction projects and 10 library system implementations.
