Jan Olov WesterbergDirector General of the Swedish Museum of Natural History
has the position as Director General of the Swedish Museum of Natural History since 2008. The SMNH is the largest museum in Scandinavia, and an important research facility. We´ve have been active in the arctic since around 1750, and have extensive collections, archives and libraries from the arctic. Director Westerberg has working in the area since 1985, and has been a board member of the Nordic Cultural Institute in Nuuk, Greenland and was one of the founders of the Alliance of Arctic Natural History Museums. He´s currently chair of Ajtte, the Swedish National Museum of the Saami culture and the mountain region and regional councilor, western Europe, for the International Union of conservation of nature (IUCN) and as such focal point for the arctic.
